Merry Christmas

Just wanting to wish you all a merry Christmas from our family to yours!

BRRRR!

Okay...this pic wasn't taken here in IOWA but it might as well have been based on the weather we've had of late. I don't often take the time to post about the weather, but I haven't seen cold like this since I have moved to Iowa...not only cold but a bunch of snow.

Beautiful, but stinkin' cold!

CHRISTMAS LETTER 2008

SEXTING...THE NEW TEEN PHENOMENON!

For the past couple of months I have heard at very places rumbles of a new teen habit known as sexting...meaning the intent of communicating with someone with the intent of "hooking up" later either in person or by receiving sexual explicit material ON THEIR PHONE!!!!

I have just received a couple of articles about the topic from CPYU.org which is a great resource on teens and culture today. I have attached links to the 2 articles so you can take the time to read them. "The latest Cell Phone Use: Sexting." and "Sex and Tech"

By the way, Parents did you know the average age for a child's first sexual encounter is 12 years old. And that just under 2 out of every 3 students will graduate from High School with a Sexual Transmitted Disease. If you don't think your child is sexually active, you're being deceived!
Parents you need to be involved in your children's lives...it may be awkward and it may be hard...but trust me, it's worth it! Take the time to talk with them...it's for their sake.

CARDBOARD TESTIMONIES

I came across this video in an email the other day and thought it was AWESOME! Take a look for yourself and what it can mean when God really does impact your life...and you let him become LORD!

COMING ALONGSIDE UDMO!

WOW! Church Family you did an amazing job. This past couple of weeks our Community Crews have participated in two different but both needed drives for our local food bank and clothing shelter known as Upper Des Moines Opportunity.

First was the Food Drive where we raised approximately 2500 pounds of food. Great job!

Second came the coat drive where we filled 10 different 50 gallon garbage sacs with new and used coats/blankets for folks in our community who need them. AGAIN...AMAZING!

Thank You to everyone you participated and is helping make an impact on the lives of those here in Hamilton County!

In Case any of you didn't get a chance to attend Innovate 2008 hosted by Granger Community Church in Indiana, here is a link to their site where you can buy and download all the sessions of this year's conference
